Heffron Wins 'Last Comic' Title John Heffron, the manic Michigan native who survived two head-to-head matchups over the course of "Last Comic Standing," won the show's crown Thursday (Aug. 13).Heffron beat out fellow finalists Alonzo Bodden and Gary Gulman to win the title, which carries with it a half-hour special on Comedy Central and a talent deal with NBC. He'll also appear on Friday's "Tonight Show with Jay Leno." NBC says close to a million people voted by phone, Internet or text message.A graduate of Eastern Michigan University, Heffron says he's been doing stand-up in comedy clubs since he was old enough to be admitted. He's a veteran of the Aspen Comedy Festival and Montreal's Just for Laughs showcase and has appeared on Comedy Central's "Premium Blend" and NBC's "Late Friday."According to his web site, Heffron is also developing a pilot based on The That Guy! Game, a bachelorette-party card game that sends players on a scavenger hunt for certain types of guys.At the close of Thursday's show, "Last Comic" host/executive producer Jay Mohr announced that the third cycle of the series will pit Heffron and his fellow second-season comics against the first-season finalists in a sort of all-star showdown. The new show is set to premiere Monday, Aug. 30.
